MoonGroove Festival - PSHS Inc, Mohnton, Pennsylvania, USA
We just returned from the 5th annual MoonGroove Festival (our 4th consecutive year in attendance), and wow—what an unforgettable experience! This is truly a festival like no other and it has quickly risen toward the top of our personal list when it comes to our favorite events that we look forward to each and every year.
Before diving into the highlights, we want to give a huge thank you to Eli and his team, everyone working behind the scenes, the incredible volunteers, the extremely talented musicians and artists, and all who contribute to making this event so special for the naturist community. The amount of effort and planning that goes into MoonGroove is truly astounding. We’re willing to bet they’re already working on next year’s event! It’s been a joy to watch MoonGroove grow over the years, and somehow it gets better and better each time. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
For those who are unfamiliar, MoonGroove Festival is a naturist music and arts festival held at Penn Sylvan Health Society (PSHS) in Mohnton, PA; a peaceful rural setting about an hour west of Philadelphia. The venue is surrounded by nature and offers a variety of amenities including an outdoor pool, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, recreation hall, and tennis court. For accommodations, PSHS offers a limited number of cabins, motel rooms, and RV sites, which book up fast (literally—the day that the event is announced) for the weekend of MoonGroove. There’s ample space for tent camping, and this year saw the addition of a “quiet camping” area—perfect for those who want to enjoy the festival in a more relaxed, peaceful setting. For more on PSHS in particular, you can check out our travel experience post from a few years back, or visit their website at the link above.
MoonGroove itself features four music stages that rotate throughout the day and night, offering a mix of genres to keep things fresh and exciting. Whether you’re floating in the pool listening to chill tunes, rocking out at the main stage, or dancing under the stars with glowsticks in hand, the atmosphere is electric. With upwards of 40 bands performing across the weekend, there’s always something for everyone to enjoy.
In addition to music, MoonGroove hosts a diverse vendor village offering everything from clothing, art, and jewelry to unique services like massage, stretching, sound healing, temporary tattoos, face painting, and one of the worst kept secrets: a professional tattoo artist. Nikki personally has a tradition of getting a new tattoo every year at MoonGroove from James O’Hanlon of Legend of Ink Tattoos in New Jersey—not only is he an incredible artist, but he’s also a genuinely awesome guy. This year also brought a welcome new addition: Frank’s General Store, which offered up a variety of essentials for anyone who forgot to pack something. From toiletries to camping needs, it was a smart and thoughtful inclusion.
The festival also welcomed sponsor tables from organizations such as Bare Necessities, AANR East, NAC/NEF and Planet Nude, offering pertinent information on naturist travel, advocacy and educational efforts, as well as giveaways and raffles for some really great prizes. We were especially happy to see our friends from the marketing team at Cypress Cove (pictured below)—if you haven’t visited them yet, it’s an absolute naturist must!
Food was available onsite virtually all day, every day, starting with breakfast and continuing with lunch and dinner offerings like BBQ ribs, pulled pork, burgers & hot dogs, and artisan pizzas served late into the evenings. One standout for us? The cucumber dill pizza. It may sound unusual, but it’s sooo good. Trust us; try it!
Nevertheless, despite all of these incredible offerings, we can honestly say that the best part of MoonGroove is the people. The community is warm, respectful, and inclusive—no matter what your story is, who you are, or where you’re from, you will feel at home amongst the groovers. Every year we leave with new friendships and unforgettable memories.
It’s honestly quite difficult to encapsulate all that MoonGroove has to offer with mere text alone, but we hope that this post has at least piqued your curiosity. Whether you’re a seasoned naturist, or someone who has never participated in social nudity before, the laid back vibe and clothing optionality of MoonGroove is welcoming to all—but it’s really something that you need to experience for yourself to truly appreciate the magnitude of this magical experience. Keep your eyes open for the official announcement of the 2026 festival, which will likely be made several months in advance (Q1 2026). The event itself has historically been held the third or fourth weekend in July, so mark your calendars and start planning early. If you can make it, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket when they become available! It’s an absolute must for naturists, burners, and folks from all walks of life who simply know how to appreciate a one of a kind music and arts festival in great company.
